Emsella is a pain-free procedure for most patients. When your treatment begins, our Emsella chair in Thunder Bay will start emitting electromagnetic energy to stimulate your pelvic floor muscles. This will cause rapid contractions of your pelvic floor, which can feel like a tingling sensation. You’ll feel these contractions throughout your session.
Afterward, you may feel some mild soreness or discomfort in the pelvic floor area, similar to how you might feel after an intense workout. This usually dissipates quickly, and most patients can immediately resume their regular activities.
Make sure to drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session. On the day of your treatment, wear comfortable, light clothing. You’ll be able to keep your clothes on during treatment, but heavier fabrics may interfere with the electromagnetic energy, limiting your results.
You will also need to remove any metal and electronic devices before your therapy. The energy emitted from the Emsella chair can damage your devices, so make sure to remove any phones, smart watches, credit cards, jewelry, and any other metal before your session.
Since Emsella is noninvasive, there’s no major downtime needed after treatment. You may experience some mild soreness for a few days, but this isn’t limiting for most patients.
